Oils, especially vegetable cooking oils, and fat-rich products, like margarine, are global staple foods. They are excellent carriers for additional vitamins. Fighting vitamin deficiencies

Fortification

Cooking oils, fats, and margarine fortified with vitamins including Vitamin A and Vitamin D are an excellent source for vitamins. Fortification is compulsory in many countries, including India and Nigeria. Vitablend offers fortification solutions that are stable over the product’s shelf-life and are tested for cooking losses.

  • For margarine fortification, Retinyl Palmitate is the most efficient source of Vitamin A. This is available in a very concentrated form and is favored over other compounds, such as Retinyl Acetate, because of its low melting point.
  • The most common form of Vitamin D is Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), typically diluted to a usable concentration of 1 million IU/g. Vitamin D3 is suitable for vegetarian diets but unsuitable for vegan diets. In these cases, Vitamin D2 (Ergocalciferol) may be used. Vitamin D2 and D3 have equivalent potency. To comply with fortification regulations Vitablend offers as standard a blend of vitamin A with vitamin D3 in the ratio of 1 million IU/g. Vitamin A: 0.1 million IU/g vitamin D3 or Vitamin D2. Many other combinations are available on request.
  • Our liquid vitamin AD premixes are packaged in Nitrogen-flushed Aluminum cans to ensure a long shelf-life. Vitablend’s flexibility means that we can adjust the dilution of these blends to minimize dispensing procedures at the production site, so one single pack of premix satisfies the requirements of a single batch.

Restore Vitamin E levels in the final product

Fortification & Protection

Both natural and synthetic alpha Tocopherols and their acetates are available from Vitablend for oily blends as a source of vitamin E and as an antioxidant, especially when PUFAs are present – think of infant nutrition and health capsules containing Omega 3 fatty acids.

  • Purified alpha-Tocopherol (and acetate)
  • Natural d-mixed Tocopherols, in standard concentrations of 50 and 70%
  • Natural source Tocopherols originate from IP soy and do not require allergen labeling.
  • The concentration can be adjusted.

Margarine containing water-soluble B vitamins is a great success. Vitablend can design a custom premix for inclusion in the water phase that will enable end-of-shelf-life nutritional claims to be met. For coloring, we offer highly flexible beta-carotene solutions.
